Cravar Alpha 15 Leather Briefcase Review

Leather briefcases at this price point usually sacrifice function for looks, so I looked closely at Cravar's Alpha 15 — the bag that started the brand — in Vintage Brown, to see if it holds up as a daily-carry piece.

First impressions

It's built from full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather using an old-school pit-tanning method, with solid brass hardware in an antique finish. At 15.75" x 12" x 4.15" and about 4 lbs with the shoulder strap, it has real substance without feeling bulky.

Build and organization

The Alpha fits a 15" laptop (and some 16" models, up to 14.37" physical width) in a dedicated narrower compartment, keeping the rest of the main space free for everything else. It closes with a fast brass stud for quick access or a leather slot for extra security, has a padded top handle with an aluminum-reinforced top flap, and a removable, adjustable shoulder strap with an oversized comfort pad. Cravar also covers all inside-facing rivets so they don't scratch whatever you're carrying.

Is it worth it?

At $425, it's priced like other premium full-grain leather briefcases, but Cravar backs it with a lifetime warranty and free trackable worldwide shipping — coverage that's hard to find at this price elsewhere. You can also add monogrammed initials in one of two fonts for $15.
